Contrary to liberal drivel same sex marriage is not about "equality"--but rather approval.
Homosexuals (who average between 10-20 partners a year) are not interested in marriage. Instead--what they are truly interested in is government (both local and federal) placing its stamp of approval on a behavior most Americans deem highly abhorrent and immoral.
And by the federal government abrogating DADT--and local governments signing off on same sex marriage--gays are getting exactly what they've wanted for decades: Government approval.
Seems the sodomites are running the asylum.
